ROAE2 joins the discussion on the 2024 wet season rice insurance on NBT North channel
On October 18, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., Ms. Thanphicha Theeraratchanon, Director of the Office of Agricultural Economics 2 (Director of ROAE2 Phitsanulok), joined the discussion on the 2024 wet season rice insurance on the program "United Thai Hearts, Never Abandon Each Other" on NBT North channel. The objective is to publicize the agricultural product insurance system (wet season rice) for the 2024 production year, which uses technology to apply in the insurance system to produce accurate and precise analysis results based on scientific principles, which helps increase farmers' confidence in their decision-making when purchasing agricultural product insurance.
Details of the 2024 wet season rice insurance project are divided into 2 formats:
- Basic insurance (Tier 1) has been improved by requiring farmers to pay a premium of 5 baht/rai and
- Voluntary insurance (Tier 2) which farmers can purchase additionally.
Both formats are classified according to the risk of the area in 3 levels (low-medium-high) from natural disasters, including drought, flood, intermittent rain, storm, cold weather, hail and wild elephants.
The project aims to alleviate damage from agricultural disasters for farmers and increase efficiency in spending and managing the government budget.
